What is the UK ETA?
The ETA is a pre-travel authorisation linked to your passport. It allows you to enter the UK for short-term stays (up to six months per visit) over a two-year validity period. Multiple entries are permitted during that time, making it ideal for those who plan to travel back and forth.
Important: If you have a criminal record, you may need to apply for a Standard Visit visa instead.
How to apply for a UK ETA
Applying is simple and can be done online:
1. Apply online or via the mobile app
Use the UK government’s official portal or download the UK ETA app (iOS/Android).
2. Provide your details
You will need to provide:
- Your Australian or New Zealand passport, which must be valid for at least six months.
- Your personal and contact details.
- (Optional)l: Your travel plans, including dates and purpose.
3. Upload a photo
A recent, passport-style digital photo is required.
